For more than twenty years the Connecticut STEM Foundation has sponsored the CT STEM Fair for high school students. We are reaching out to Connecticut school districts that do not send students to our fair, with the goal of obtaining the participation of more school districts. As part of our outreach program, we are developing a Science Research Curriculum Guide which will be made available to all Connecticut school districts. Currently we have a club version of it posted on our website. This makes it possible to have a teacher sponsor a Science Research Club and support STEM students who want to perform science research and present their findings at a Science & Engineering Fair. Ultimately, it will be expanded so that it can be taught as a Science Research course in a classroom setting. Additionally we have developed and piloted a mentorship program for new Science Research teachers to provide guidance and support to them during their first years of teaching a Science Research class.
